Attendance was sparse at the 2011 Homecoming. Perhaps it was due to the early date (the weekend following Labor Day), the anticipation of Texas September heat (although a record heat year, it wasn't so bad at Homecoming), or just changing societal attitudes about homecomings. Those who didn't attend had a good time seeing old friends and classmates.
The Class of 1961 had a big Golden Anniversary Reunion and even raised $30,000 for a scholarship! The lucky recipient was Taylor Armstrong, daughter of Connie Gibson Armstrong, Class of 1983 and Rodney Armstrong, Class of 1982.
Martin Bowen, Class of 1961, was the Distinguished Alumnus and Betty Thornton Tand was the Coming Home Queen.
